The 100th Annual Sports and Athletic Meet of the University of Education, Lower Mall Campus, Lahore was organized at the Lower Mall Campus from February 5 to February 6, 2012. Vice Chancellor University of Education Prof. Dr. Faiz-ul-Hasan was the chief guest on the occasion. This colorful event was witnessed by a huge crowd. At the final prize distribution ceremony, the position holders in various competitions were awarded trophies. In the men’s athletics, 100m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, hurdles, Hop Step and Jump, High Jump and Long Jump events were won by Mustansar Hussain, Furqan Ali, Umer Hameed, Furqan Ali, Umer Hameed, Waheed Abid and Muhammad Usman respectively. In the ladies’ finals, 50m race was won by Sadia while Chatti Race was won by Nisar Fatima. Shor Put was won by Muhammad Adil while Discus Throw and Javelin Throw were won by Nasir Ali and Majid Ali respectively.
In the ladies events, Tahseen Akhtar and Saba were declared successful. In Badminton (Ladies) Riffat Nisa won singles while doubles was won by Ambreen Ramzan and Samra Tayyab. In Badminton (Men), Yasir won the singles event while doubles was one by Ali Salman and Usama Malik. In the team events, BBA won Cricket (Men) and Football while BA-B.Ed won Volleyball. Cricket (Ladies) was won by MA Urdu. Umer Hameed of BBA was declared the best athlete of the event. Dr. Faiz-ul-Hassan, in his address, congratulated the students on performing brilliantly in the event and stressed the need for co-curricular activities at the university campuses.
