Lahore won the special persons athletics final of the Punjab Sports Festival with two gold and one silver medal. In 100 m one arm persons race: Asghar Ali of Faisalabad clinched the title, Mohammad Shafique of Lahore won the second position. In 100 mentally-retarded persons: Bilawal Aslam of Lahore won first position, Mohammad Sultan of Gujranwala secured second position.
In 50 m mentally-retarded girls event: Razia Mansoor of Gujranwala secured first position while Sara Ali of Rawalpindi won the second position. Mubashir Ali of Rawalpindi won first in 100 m visually-impaired person’s event whereas Mohammad Shahzad of Sahiwal managed second position. In the 50 m girls visually-impaired race: Wajiha of Rawalpindi was first, Shabnam of Bahawalpur achieved second position.
In the 100 m deaf and dumb girls: Memoona Saleh, Lahore got first place, Misbah of Bahawalpur achieved second position. 100 m deaf and dumb boys race was won by Mohammad Naeem of Sargodha and Umer of Lahore managed to get second position. In the last event of the day, 100 m wheel chair race: Tayab of Lahore won first and Ahmed Yar of Multan scored second position. In the press clubs cricket match at Government College University, Multan beat Faisalabad by 2 runs. Multan scored 84 while Faisalabad could score only 82 runs. In the second match, Sahiwal defeated Rawalpindi by 48.
Sahiwal scored 111 and Rawalpindi managed to make 63 runs only. On the other hand, a final flood light night veterans match was played between Chief Minister’s 11 and Rest of Lahore 11. Rest of Lahore 11 made 222 runs in 20 overs at the loss of 5 wickets while Chief Minister 11 could target only 221 runs at the loss of 7 wickets. Deputy Speaker Rana Mashood Ahmed was the chief guest to distribute medals and trophies among the winners.
