The government has implemented 42 out of total 61 targets under Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan Package, announced to end deprivation of the Baloch people through development and job opportunities. The targets areas are constitutional, political, administrative and economic as thanks to special implementation committee of the package headed by Minister for Interior Rehman Malik which accelerated the pace of execution process with achievement of more than 75 percent actions.
The targets in constitutional areas have been achieved 100 percent while in political areas two have been implemented out of total 5 targets. Similarly, out of 16 administrative policy actions, 12 have been implemented successfully and out of 34 economic related policy actions 22 have been implemented in letter and spirit.
Minister for Interior Rehman Malik said that implementation of total 19 remaining policy actions is in progress and would be achieved soon.
A document available with APP revealed that Constitutional Policy Actions included Provincial Autonomy, Deletion of Concurrent List, Deletion of Police Order 2002 and Balochistan Local Government Ordinance 2001 from the 6th Schedule, Implementation of the Article 153-Council of Common Interest (CCI) and Implementation of Article 160 NFC Award.
The document said the CCI has become more affective while Balochistan share in NFC Award had increased from Rs. 40 billion to Rs 108 billion in 2011.
Moreover, under Political Policy Action 172 cases against political workers, not involved in heinous crimes, were withdrawn and 665 persons were released.
Political dialogue with major stakeholders is in progress, while employments in Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Coast Guards, for youth of Balochistan, have been ensured.
Beside employing 118 Sepoys in Pakistan Coast Guards, 18 Engineers were appointed in Gwader Port Authority (GPA), 18 Officers in State Bank of Pakistan, 117 were appointed in National Bank of Pakistan while recruitment in First Women Bank is in process. Out of 150 employees (BS 1-16) in GPA, 142 are from Balochistan.
