A man was killed and two others injured in an exchange of fire between two groups, allegedly activists of the Awami National Party (ANP) and the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM), in the Hazara Goth area of Gulshan-e-Iqbal on Sunday. The Gulistan-e-Jauhar SHO identified the deceased as 18-year-old Sajjad Ali and the injured as Adnan and Ghulam Muhammad. He said the clash occurred when ANP activists tried to set up an office in Hazara Goth, an area dominated by JSQM. “The activists from both sides, after a verbal spar, opened firing at each other,” the police official added. The SHO said the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The ANP spokesman denied the police’s claim and said his party had nothing to do with the incident. Gulshan-e-Iqbal division SP Abdul Salam Sheikh confirmed that the clash took place between ANP and JSQM activists. Separately, a man was killed and another injured when some unidentified assailants opened fire at a tea shop at Indus Plaza in Sohrab Goth. The Sohrab Goth SHO identified the deceased as 40-year-old Roz Gull and the injured as 30-year-old Sakhi Jan. The police official said Roz Gull ran a cloth business and both the decased and the injured hailed from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
