Skipper Paul Collingwood could not prevent his South African Twenty20 Challenge side The New Age Impi suffering their sixth consecutive loss Wednesday and remaining rooted to the bottom of the table. Fellow strugglers Eastern Cape Warriors made 182-2 off 20 overs and restricted the Impi to 146-8 to win by 36 runs at Willowmoore Park in eastern Johannesburg suburb Benoni. Former England one-day international captain Collingwood — one of four imports hired by the first privately funded team to compete in the competition — was run out for 28 after a 24-ball spell that included two fours and a six. Fellow Englishman Luke Wright struck 24 runs, Ryan ten Doeschate from the Netherlands 23 and Australian tailender Ben Edmondson was unbeaten on two when the Impi ran out of overs. It was the first victory of the season for the Port Elizabeth-based Warriors with leading scorer Ashwell Prince (63) ably assisted by Craig Thyssen (49 not out) and Colin Ingram (42 not out). The top of the table clash between Central Knights and Northern Titans in Bloemfontein was cancelled without a ball being bowled after a thunderstorm drenched the Chevrolet Park outfield. Knights have 18 points after six rounds, Titans 15, Highveld Lions 13, Coastal Dolphins 12, title favourites Western Cape Cobras 11, Warriors four and Impi are pointless.
