The media persons as well as the police officials have failed to identify the ‘master’ of Station House Officer (SHO) of Kohsar Police Station, who could not be ‘uprooted’ from his position despite having been served 11 show-cause notices and forfeiture of three years service during the last six months. Police sources said that Inspector Fiaz Tanoli, who was appointed as SHO Kohsar in July 2011, has badly failed to control crime in his jurisdiction. Owing to bad performance he was served eleven show cause notices but every time he somehow managed to save his skin.
Sources said that whenever, high-ups of police tried to transfer the said Inspector some ‘influential person’ jumped into the matter and saved him.
During the month of January 2012 as many as 6 cars were stolen from his jurisdiction and none of them has so far been recovered. According to police’ statistics, Kohsar Police Station topped the list vis-à-vis car lifting crime in January.
On January 4 2012 Kohsar Police registered an FIR against the theft of a car bearing registration number (LXC-33), another FIR was registered on January 5, against the lifting of car (IDL-5454). Whereas on January 13, 18 and 20th three others cases of car theft were registered.
Sources said that during the last few months many robbery cases were reported in the jurisdiction of Kohsar Police Station.
Giving example of January 17, sources said that on that day as many as four robbery cases took place in the jurisdiction of Kohsar Police Station. Upon the said incident, one year service of the said SHO was fortified. While for concealing facts from his superiors about the status of an impounded vehicle, two years service of the said police officer’s service was also fortified during the last week.
Talking to Pakistan Today, Inspector Fiaz Tanoli said that show-cause were routine matter for any police officer. Explaining 11 show-cause notices, he said that in many cases he was issued one show-cause notice by many police officers separately, that is the reason for high number of notices.
When asked about the increasing number of car theft cases under his jurisdiction, he said that he was doing his best to control car thefts. “We arrested a car jacker, who has confessed lifting many cars. Investigations are being carried out and hopefully we will recover the stolen cars.” To a query, he said he has decided to file an appeal against the forfeiture of three years of his service.
