Investment-friendly housing policies to be adopted: Kundi

The government is taking keen interest in the promotion of housing sector and intends to introduce investment-friendly policies in this sector to overcome accommodation problems in the country.
This was announced by National Assembly Deputy Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi while inaugurating a three-day building material exhibition organised by Institute of Architects Pakistan (IAP) at a local hotel. He said the housing sector was playing an important role in generating economic activities in the country besides providing jobs to millions of people. He further said provision of shelter to shelterless people was top priority of the present democratic setup in the country. Kundi said that public-private partnership was necessary to overcome accommodation problems. He stressed the need to introduce low-cast housing units so that it could be easily affordable for the masses.
The NA deputy speaker appreciated the efforts of Institute of Architects Pakistan management for organising the exhibition. He said that such events would promote local industry and young talent while also simultaneously providing a platform to the members of the building trade to display their products. It would also give them the opportunity to interact with the architectural community, interior designers, developers and other allied construction professional all over the country.
The deputy speaker also visited different stalls installed by various companies working in manufacturing building material and took keen interest in the products.
Earlier, the IAP chairman briefed the deputy speaker that the IAP had organised many such exhibitions in the past in which leading national and international architects, investors, landscape designers, engineers and people from all walks of life had taken keen interest and enthusiastically participated. He said various national and international companies were taking part in this three-day exhibition and displaying their latest innovations regarding architecture designing and engineering.
