Five Nishtar Colony policemen charged for murdering passenger

Nishter Colony Police in a late night development, lodged an FIR against five policemen, including Nishter Colony Station House Officer (SHO) for murdering Jaan Muhammad, 45, resident of Kasur, inside a passenger van earlier on Friday during cross-fire between robbers and police.
Police said three robbers came on a rickshaw and robbed valuables worth Rs 5 million from the house of former Minorities Minister Derek Ciprian in Shadaab Colony. Locals informed police and a police chase was initiated. Police claimed the robbersopened fire to which they responded. While neither police nor robbers were injured, one of the bullets hit a passenger, Jaan, travelling in by van from Kasur to Lahore. Police rushed Jaan to a nearby hospital where he subsequently died and his body was shifted to Jinnah Hospital.
Nishter Colony Police said Jaan was carrying Rs. 350,000 to purchase a van which police returned to his heirs when the arrived. Late on Friday night registered, Nishter Colony Police registered a case against SHO Nishter Colony Rana Akmal, SI Doost Muhammad and Constables Tanveer, Haider Ali and Baber after conducting an inquiry that proved the passenger died due to police firing. The DIG Operations ordered the registration of the case on the deceased’s relative Ishaq’s complaint. Police also returned the Rs 5 million loot to the house owners.
WOMAN RAPED, KILLED: Three men sexually assaulted Basti Eidgah Area resident Zubaida Bibi, 45, and slaughtered her inside her home in the Kahna Police Area on Friday.
Police said Arif, a relative of Zubaida’s husband, visited them late on Thursday night with two accomplices. When Zubaida’s husband, Sher Muhammad returned after milking his cows from a nearby Haveli on Friday, the three guests were leaving in a hurry. Upon entering home, he found his wife dead. He tried to chase the accused but failed upon which he informed police. A case was registered against Arif and his accomplices.
