LGH sets up lab for dengue control

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif gave the formal approval on Tuesday of a state of the art PCR laboratory to be established at the Lahore General Hospital (LGH) at a cost of Rs5.7 million. Postgraduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Dr Tariq Salahuddin presided over a meeting on Tuesday, held to review the preparation against dengue. Salahuddin informed the meeting that the virus was a social problem which could be solved through holding seminars, workshops and dissemination of information. He added that an online registration process for blood donors had been started so that dengue patients would not face any problems in the coming days. Salahuddin also said that dengue patients would not be required to pay any token fees, and there would be separate counters for male and female patients in the hospital.
