ITP helped 854 motorists in current year

An Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) spokesman stated on Monday that the ITP had helped 854 motorists during the ongoing year.
According to the spokesman, the police had been working round the clock to help the people whose vehicles had broken down or had run out of fuel. Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood said the ITP officers work in different shifts to provide as much assistance as possible to commuters. He said motorists who faced problems, could call 1915 which was the assistance unit’s contact number. He stated that policing was a service-providing job and every possible effort was being made to maintain a close liaison with the people.
According to a press release, the ITP assistance unit repaired 279 vehicles, changed the tyres of 120 vehicles; towed 120 vehicles and provided pick and drop services to 95 vehicle owners. 66 vehicles were towed away to service stations after they ran out of fuel; 162 vehicles were shifted to workshops while 12 pedestrians were also helped by the ITP unit. 101 public transport vehicle drivers were fined for route violation, 65 drivers were charged with misbehaving with passengers, 36 for over-charging and four for driving rashly.
