After all the revels and enjoyment at the concert by QuratulAin Baloch and Entity Paradigm, committee sessions, scavenger hunt and the dinner, it was time to wind up SiMUN. Two committee sessions, starting at 10am, marked the commencement of the final day of SiMUN. The time periods allotted for refreshment between the sessions were finely catered to, by the host team. For the while, the young delegates put their diplomacies in their pockets as they sang, danced and ran in the campus. The drizzling further added to the felicity of the day.
The closing ceremony began at half past five, by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. The committees, in their so-called ‘models’, had finally succeeded in reaching a compromised conclusion for the betterment of the whole human race.
Shehryar Salamat and other orators took charge of the stage as they spoke of the importance of such events such as SiMUN. They further went on, innately appreciating the sincere labour put in by the host team, including Ashab Shahzad(Secretary General), Usman Rana(Director General) and Harris Waseem(Diector of Security). An uncensored, annonymous chit session was also held and the chits were read on the stage.
It was now time to hand out the awards of appreciation. The accolade for best delegation was won by Lahore Grammar School, Johar Town, while numerous students were honoured with the award of “best delegate” and shields were presented to the committee directors. The chief guests on the occasion were Mr and Mrs Salamat, Zehra Ali and Rashid Rehman. Videos and pictures, of the four day event, were then projected to the whole audience.
Some described SiMUN as ‘the best event they had ever attended.’ Hopefully, SICAS and the host team were proud of seeing the glory of procuring, what they had endeavoured to. Finally, the delegates and the host team shook hands and bid adieus to each other.
Hell yea! We did everything we could, to keep the entertainment going on, and to help progress things as smoothly as possible! 😀
