Chief of Jammiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-S) Maulana Samiul Haq on Sunday revealed his willingness to play the role of an intermediary for initiating a dialogue between Taliban and the Afghan government. In an interview with a foreign news agency, Maulana said that during his meeting with Hamid Karzai, the Afghan president had urged him to help bring the Taliban to the dialogue table. He said further that the reconciliation with Taliban was laudable and it would help to resolve the Afghan issue and bring peace to the region.
