Islamabad Chief Commissioner Tariq Mahmood Pirzada reviewed the progress on Tuesday of the on-going automation of the land revenue records of the Islamabad rural areas. Expressing his displeasure on the slow pace of work on the project, he said: “The government’s electronic department has been working on the project for the last 7 years but no significant progress has been made.” He was presiding over a meeting held to review the project’s progress. The chief commissioner directed the project director and Islamabad ADC Farasat Ali Khan, Assistant Commissioner (Secretariat) Nouman Yousaf to visit the Punjab Land Revenue Department and collect the details of the software developed by the department for data entry of the land records.
He also directed them to look into the working of the system in place at the revenue department. “If the software developed by the Punjab Revenue Department is working successfully, it should be replicated in the Islamabad Capital Territory for the computerisation of the land revenue record. This should be done immediately so that the land record data can be entered on a speedy basis,” the chief commissioner said. It was also decided in the meeting that sufficient space would be provided to the Electronic Government Department to install an internet server in the new ICT Administration building to provide internet connections to the ICT officials’ offices.
