Arrested US national handed over to US consulate

William Charles, a US functionary arrested at Peshawar airport on Tuesday, has been handed over to his country’s consulate.
Earlier, Airport Security Force Pakistan (ASF) had arrested the US citizen at Peshawar airport, and recovered 19 bullets of a 17-9mm pistol from his possession.
He was arrested when boarding Islamabad-bound flight from Peshawar airport. The man was later identified as a US functionary.
Police, however, handed him over to the US consulate before keeping him in custody for few hours.

  168. If this person did not have a diplomatic passport/visa, he should not have been handed over to the Consulate. All foreign nationals do not automatically qualify to be released, only those who have arrived on diplomatic passports and visas and those who are not involved in any criminal activity. Any diplomat involved or suspected of being involved in criminal activity should be deported at once. Hasn't there been enough damage done by the Raymond Davis case? Pakistan Government should issue instructions to all police forces in the country on what to do when a foreign national is arrested.

    With US trying to causing trouble in Baluchistan and fanning the flames of insurgency, is it wise to let any US national go (who has been caught with guns and bullets) without investigating. What he was up to?
