The Sindh High Court (SHC) directed the interior secretary on Monday to file comments in a petition regarding the inclusion of Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi Chairman Afaq Ahmed’s name in the exit control list (ECL).
Ahmed, through his counsel, had filed a constitutional petition, in which he submitted that he was released from jail after seven years on the orders of the high court and no court of law prohibits him from traveling out of the country.
However, when he contacted the passport office, he was told that his name is on the ECL and that is why he cannot be issued a passport. Ahmed prayed that the inclusion of his name in the ECL be declared illegal and unconstitutional and the interior ministry directed to issue him a passport.
