Prices of various commodities witness decrease

Mix trend in prices of vegetables and fruit was witnessed at the city Sunday bazaars with normal trading activity. According to Sunday bazaars list, this week tomatoes were sold at 48 per Kg, potatoes were sold at Rs 17 per Kg while onions were sold at Rs 40 per Kg. It is relevant to note here that for the last six months the prices of onion and tomatoes have been beyond the reach of the general public. The stall holders of the Sunday bazaars were of the view that during last year’s flood, the crop of these two most used kitchen items were badly damaged. And to meet the demand of the market these two products were being imported from neighboring countries.
However, they said that in the next few days the prices of these two products will witness significant decrease as now local crops are almost ripe. This Sunday, the prices of ginger and garlic witnessed a slight increase. Ginger was sold at Rs88 per Kg while garlic was sold at Rs80 per Kg. According to the list, this week gourd was sold at Rs40 per Kg, ladyfinger was sold at Rs 100 per Kg, pumpkin was sold at Rs36 per Kg, bitter gourd was sold at Rs110, Brinjal was sold at Rs40 and cucumber was sold at Rs36 per Kg.
Whereas this week the prices of peas also witnessed a decrease of Rs6 per Kg. This week, peas were sold at Rs40 per Kg, green chili was sold at Rs120 per Kg, Blackpaper was sold at Rs70 per Kg, lemon was sold at Rs 80 per Kg. While, cabbage and cauliflower were sold at Rs20 and 24 per Kg respectively. This week, Apple (Kalani) was sold at Rs150 Apple (Golden) were sold at Rs 120 per Kg and bananas were sold at Rs60 per dozen. This week, chicken was sold at Rs152 per Kg and eggs were sold at Rs91 per Kg.
