Progress of agri projects reviewed

Islamabad Chief Commissioner Tariq Mahmood Pirzada has held a meeting to review the progress of on-going agricultural projects in the rural areas of Islamabad and directed the officials to expedite work on these projects for their timely completion, says a press release issued here on Sunday by the chief commissioner office. The meeting was informed that directorate of agriculture had launched many projects for boosting the agriculture in rural areas under which water courses and mini dams had been constructed for storage of rain water and irrigation for crops.
Modern agricultural demonstration plants have been developed at various sites in the rural areas and training courses for the farmers are under way for imparting and introducing modern methods of agriculture techniques. It was informed that fisheries department had also prepared comprehensive arrangements for fish seeds stoking in the dams and promoting the production of fish in large scale for meeting the protein demands of consumers. The livestock department was also holding free veterinary medical camps in the remote rural areas on daily basis, it was further informed. The chief commissioner directed the officials to provide maximum facilities to the farmers in the rural areas for boosting agriculture and production of meat and milk.
The chief commissioner also reviewed the progress of industries and labour welfare departments of Islamabad and directed the officials to further improve their service delivery systems and ensure the implementation of relevant laws in letter and spirit.
Meanwhile, he visited the under construction site of shrine of Hazrat Bari Imam Complex at Noor Pur Shahan and reviewed the on-going progress of work at the site. Director Development/Finance, Rana Akbar Hayat, Deputy Director Auqaf, Malik Afsar Khan, Project Director, Ayaz Khan and contractor of the project were also present on the occasion. He directed the project director and contractor to expedite the work on the project and ensure completion without any delay.
