The Karachi Zoo has acquired a Martial Eagle, a pair each of miniature horses and owls, different kinds of parrots and fish, and a python. These captive animals worth over Rs 1.5 million were inducted in the zoo under the supervision of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed. Syed said the Karachi Zoo has been suffering due to negligence, but it has been paid special attention in the past two months. He said after the renovation and restoration work completed, the security condition at the zoo has improved.
New captive animals, including rare species of birds and animals, are being inducted in the zoo and this process would continue, he added. In response to a question, the administrator said families, especially women and children, could now visit the zoo without any fear for their security. Karachi Zoo Director Bashir Saddozai gave a detailed briefing to the administrator about the induction of the new captive animals. Saddozai said these animals were brought to the zoo with the donations and cooperation of well-off friends of the zoo. He said a system would be introduced that would establish strong relations between the zoo and the citizens.
