Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed directed on Wednesday that the city’s drains be cleaned before the next monsoon rains. He was chairing a meeting attended by Technical Services Director General Altaf G Memon, Health Services Director Dr Shoukat Zaman and chief engineers of all city zones. The administrator said that the Pitcher Drain’s PC-I is ready and its reconstruction will begin soon. All the boundary walls, roofs and culverts of drains will be repaired and maintained before the monsoon rains.
The Korangi Crossing Road, the 8,000 Road, the 12,000 Road, the Shahrah-e-Altaf, the Hub River Road, the Mosamyat Road and other roads will be linked to drains before the monsoon season. He also directed that a complete survey be conducted at the MA Jinnah Road nullah, the Akbar Road nullah, the Soldier Bazaar nullah, the Lucky Star nullah and the Coast Guard nullah in the next three days and start work on it so that they can be renovated before rains.
