Overseas Pakistani students are the ambassadors of their country and they should do their best to bring a good name to their motherland, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said on Wednesday. Addressing a ceremony here at the Pakistan Education Centre, Gilani announced a grant of $100,000 for the centre, which caters to the educational needs of 3,000 students. He said the centre’s former students were now serving various fields and were contributing to the development and progress of Qatar.
He praised the institution’s students for winning top positions in the annual examinations conducted by the Federal Board of Education. Gilani also laid the foundation stone of a new building for the Pakistani embassy in Doha. Speaking on the occasion, he urged the embassy staff to promote a soft image of Pakistan. He told the Pakistani diplomats to further strengthen the brotherly ties with Qatar. Later, the prime minister concluded his three-day official visit and left for Pakistan.
