Robber’s bullet claims accomplice’s life

A robber was shot dead by a stray bullet fired by his accomplice when he started firing indiscriminately on robbery victims in the Johar Town police precincts on Tuesday.
According to police officials, Muhammad Hussain, who is posted as an Air Traffic Controller in Dubai, was driving home with his brother-in-law. As they reached Hussain’s house in Johar Town, two robbers intercepted them and demanded cash and valuables. Hussain’s brother-in-law Javed Iqbal opened the car door with force to hit one of the robbers. As a result, one robber fell to the ground while the other started firing. A bullet hit one of the robbers, who died on the spot, while the other fled the scene. The police shifted the robber’s body to the morgue for an autopsy and registered a case on the complaint of Javed Iqbal against him and his accomplice. The deceased person could not be identified till the filing of this report.
Man tortured to death: A 38-year-old man was tortured to death by unidentified people in the North Cantt police precincts on Tuesday.
The deceased, yet to be identified, was found in a pool of blood near the Abdullah Gul Interchange. Local police, after being informed of the incident by the locals, rushed to the scene and shifted the body to the morgue for an autopsy. The police also made announcements in local mosques for help in identifying the victim, but the body is yet to be claimed. A police official said the man had ‘Muhammad Mumtaz’ tattooed on his arm but no other clue could be found that could assist in his identification.
Three perish in road accidents: Three people, who were injured in separate road traffic accidents during the last couple of days, succumbed to their injuries at local hospitals on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Fahmida Bibi, resident of Kahna, Malik Ahmad, resident of Shahdra Town and Shabir Ahmad, resident of Manga Mundi. The dead bodies were handed over to their families after the completion of the necessary legal formalities.
