The Jeay Sindh Mahaz (JSM), a Sindhi nationalist organisation, staged a protest demonstration outside the press club on Tuesday, demanding the appointment of Sindhi-speaking judges to the Sindh High Court.
JSM leader Riaz Chandio, while addressing the rally, said the establishment and their allied forces are not ready to appoint eligible Sindhi-speaking lawyers as judges of the high court.
“These forces want to vacate the indigenous people of Sindh from its capital Karachi and after banning Sindhi people from educational institutions and factories, they are now blocking their paths to the upper judiciary of the province,” he added.
He said presently there are 12 judges in the high court for the posts of 40 judges. “The Sindhi-speaking people are being ignored in the so-called period of independent judiciary and they are compelled to live in the backward period of tribal era,” said Chandio.
“That is why the tribal feuds are so common in Sindh because the judiciary is unable to deliver the justice to the people,” he added.
Other JSM leaders Mumtaz Brohi, Faqeer Bashir, Javed Mirjat and Shaukat Soomro also participated in the rally.
