Nearly 100 civilians were killed on Monday in clashes across Syria, activists said, with the majority dying in a fierce onslaught by government troops on the flashpoint city of Homs and its environs.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said 69 people died in Homs and nearby villages while another 13 died in the northwestern province of Idlib.
The Britain-based group said another 16 people died in clashes in other towns including one in Aleppo, to the north, and 15 near the capital Damascus.
