The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday directed the session’s judge and chief commissioner Islamabad to proceed against the magistrates and assistant commissioners who handed over cars on ‘Supardari’ to their favorites.
During the last three years, 11 influential persons managed to get cars of their choice on Supardari. On last hearing, the court had directed the Islamabad police to submit complete detail about the cars given on Supardari since 2008.
After Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddique resumed hearing on Monday, AIG Islamabad Police Sultan Azam Tamuri submitted a report before the court according to which 11 vehicles were given on Supardari since 2008. He said three police officers also got vehicles on Supardari.
He informed the court that all three police officials including Inspector Zafar and Constable Muhammad Saeed had been suspended for getting vehicles on Supardari. According to the report, Judicial Magistrate Ria Liaqat Ali Kharal gave a luxury vitz to his subordinate constable Muhammad Saeed while former AC Saddar Capt (r) Fariddudin handed three vehicles to his favorites. Magistrate Khalid Yameen, Farakh Nadeem and three other magistrates also got some cars on Supardari for their blue-eyed.
Justice Siddique directed the chief commissioner and sessions judge Islamabad to hold inquiry against the officials who were involved in handing over confiscated vehicles on Supardari and to submit a report within 15 days.
The court also ordered to include the findings of inquiry in the Annual Confidential Reports (ACR) of the officials belonging to judicial and police departments.
It is relevant to note here that a citizen Muhammad Zahir Khan through his counsel Malik Tahir had filed a petition regarding car-lifting and their alleged use by certain officials.
The IHC Justice also sought report from the IGP Islamabad about the negligence of police in adopting auctioning of confiscated cars.
