Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabar Al Thani on Monday agreed to cooperate in the energy sector and expand trade between the two countries. In this connection, the two sides signed agreements to collaborate in multiple areas, mainly import of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and cooperation between the two governments on security.
Gilani and Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani witnessed the signing ceremony of two agreements and four memoranda of understanding, as the representatives of Pakistan and Qatar’s respective ministries inked the documents.
Following exclusive and delegation-level talks at the Amiri Diwan – the office of Qatar’s prime minister, the two leaders discussed ways to further promote trade and investment ties in order to add substance to the bilateral relations. The two sides discussed diverse issues, including joint development of hydropower sector, identification of sources of financing, exploration of investment opportunities in energy sector, rehabilitation of existing hydropower plants and construction of the national highway and motorway infrastructure.
Pointing out the issue of finalisation of transnational formalities to import Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) at the earliest, Prime Minister Gilani said Pakistan was interested in importing 500 million cubic feet LNG per day from Qatar that produces 77 million tonnes per annum of LNG. The imported LNG would be initially provided to the power houses in Pakistan to generate 2,500 Megawatt of electricity.
You don't deserve to represent pakistan.

Peace can only be restored in the region when the conflict parties will be serious in renouncing violence. The curb on the supply of weapons and IEDs to the militants, will assist in stopping the violence.
Next stop 'THE GATE—-QATAR MALL'.
I wonder how much talking can be done while browsing the luxury laden outlets at the Mall? Mall diplomacy may just bring peace if everyone gets a great deal.
Agreements must be reached to tackle the means through which terrorists are making weapons and devices especially the improvised explosive devises.
@Waleed Khan: I totally agree with you. There is a dire need to do plan a way out of this menace of IEDs. Pakistan has suffered the most due to this problem, but it should be kept in mind that it won’t be easy to put a complete ban on the sale and purchase of items and materials that are used in their manufacturing, because they are also meant for other purposes as well.
finally i see people blogging about the all important issue of improvised explosive devices. These devices have caused a lot of violence in the past and we should tackle this as soon as possible.
@ Saba Right on madam, there is a dire need to discuss such issues like the use of improvised explosive devises, their use and their making so that the government can take notice about it.
Talks about peace are of no use. Government should focus on working out a strategy on stopping the production of improvised explosive devices first.
EU has decided to provide Pakistan with robot technology to help our bomb disposal squads in spotting the improvised explosive devices.
Thank You EU. Our Government yet again showed their inefficiency of handling the issue of terrorism and improvised explosive devices.
I wonder who is funding the extremists? Improvised explosive devices although are easy to make but still require the capital. We all should think about it.
