Military authorities in Swat have decided to handover the administration to civil authorities in Upper Swat by mid-March, Pakistan Today has learnt. According to details, the army’s meeting was held under the Malakand GOC’s chair, which decided that in the first stage, civil administration in Upper Swat including Kalam, Bahrain and Madian will be handed over until March 12. According to sources, the meeting also decided to deploy ladies searchers at Dargai check post and come up with tangible steps to enhance the capacity of both the Chitral Police and Levies in the area. It was also decided to handover Malakand’s administration to civilians by mid 2012. Peace was prevailing in the region after the successful military operation in Swat in 2008-09 due to which the military administration decided to handover control to civilians in a phases.
