Pakistan women win Fed Cup tie

The Pakistan women’s tennis team won its Fed Cup encounter against Singapore in Shenzen, China on Tuesday.
Reports received here said that the Pakistan women team comprises of Saba Aziz, Ushna Suhail and Sara Mansoor led by their captain and coach Mohammad Khalid is placed in group II of the Asia Oceana Zone. In all 20 teams are participating in the Cup with 10 teams in each group. Pakistan in its encounter against Singapore went ahead 2-1.
Led by Ushna Suhail efforts Pakistan first beat Hannah En Xin Chew. She demonstrated superb game and won the first set 6-1. There were long rallies in the second set but finally Ushna won in straight sets 6-1, 6-4. In the second match was played by Saba Aziz against Geraldine Ang, the Pakistan player won the first set after playing excellent tennis and overpowered her opponent 6-4. Though she fought well in the next two sets, after long rallies, but went down fighting three sets, with a score line of 6-4, 6-0, 6-2.
In the final deciding doubles match played by Ushna Suhail and Sara Mansoor against Geraldine Ang and Ee Yi Olivia Koh, the Pakistan pair prevailed over their rivals with a perfect show of skills and magnificent baseline strokes. Their net game kept their opponents on the toes and overpowered in the first set. Their rivals fought equally well in the second set but Ushna and Sara won in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. Pakistan will now face the top seeds Hong Kong in their next tie on Wednesday.
