As many as 625 employees of Model Colleges have been waiting for their regularisation for the last many years. Among them about 200 are junior female teachers and lecturers and 425 are non-teaching staffers of BPS-1 to 15, working in model colleges of the Federal Directorate of Education. The employees say that a cabinet sub-committee on regularisation on daily-wage and contract employees as well as the prime minister had recommended the regularisation of all the daily-wage and contract employees working in all the ministries and their attached departments. Following the direction of the cabinet committee, 250 teachers were regularised, however, 200 lecturers and junior female teachers and 425 non-teaching staff still were waiting for their regularisation under the cabinet committee notification.
“As our colleagues have been regularised and getting salaries, anxiety has sparked among the other daily wagers and contractual employees. We should be given our due right without any delay,” said Rafaqat Hussain, a daily wager who has been working in a model college as a clark for the last three years. The daily wagers who have been working for years have sought regularisation of their services on the pattern of the provincial governments which have regularised their hundreds of employees.
