Veena Malik hit back at co-actor Vedita Pratap Singh who accused the Pakistani actor of manhandling her during a scene for their forthcoming film. Tired of constantly being dragged into controversies, Pakistani actress Veena Malik finally broke her silence against accusations made by her co-actor Vedita Pratap Singh. Vedita earlier accused the actor of deliberately hurting her during a fight sequence in the forthcoming film, ‘Mumbai 125 Kilometres’. With accusations of the alleged manhandling being splashed all across the media, the Pakistani actor has finally clarified her stance: “Who is this girl and why should I be insecure of her? She (Vedita) just wants to garner cheap publicity at my cost. Every third person wants to be associated with me just to garner publicity,” said Veena over the phone from Dubai.
Veena added: “It is a concocted story, I am in Dubai since the last 30 days. So, how can I manhandle or hurt her. The incident which she claims to be real is actually a reel shot and her injures seen on her forehead in the picture is mere makeup and a film grab.” Meanwhile, filmmaker Hemant Madhukar substantiated Veena’s claim, while saying that her disappearing acts have left him livid as his Rs 11 crore film with the actor is in jeopardy. “I am not aware of any such incident on the sets of my film. Since December 24, Veena has not shot a single scene for us. I don’t know what Vedita is talking about,” said Madhukar. This is the second time in the past two months that the actor has disappeared, giving goose bumps to the makers of her forthcoming 3D film, ‘Mumbai 125 kms’. “Many people from the industry warned me against casting her, but I still signed her for my film. I hope she lives up to my faith, else I will be doomed, as I have Rs 11 crore riding on her,” says director Hemant Madhukar.
Veena has completed a major portion of the 3D film and had committed to shoot the climax in the first week of February. But much to the director’s dismay, the actor has gone incommunicado. “Her phone is out of reach. When I contacted her manager in Pakistan, he told me that she is not getting the visa to come here and is stuck in Dubai.” The actor had gone to Dubai for a New Year Eve performance, and is stuck there, trying hard to get her Indian visa. “She is facing trouble because of numerous controversies around her,” says Madhukar, who has cast Veena in a ‘super bold avatar’ in his film. While Madhukar is anxious, the producers of Veena’s other show, ‘Swayamvar 4’, are so far at peace. “Her shoots are scheduled with us from April onwards. We hope till then, all will be resolved,” says a spokesperson from Imagine TV.
