Doctors, paramedics continue protest

After their failure to execute the plan of staging a rally in front of the Parliament House on Tuesday, doctors and paramedical staff of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Poly Clinic and National Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine (NIRM) gathered within the PIMS premises and protested against the non-implementation of the Basic Pay Scale (BPS) system. However, they again announced to stage a rally against the government’s apathy today (Wednesday).
They threatened to block all the roads leading towards the Parliament House, saying they were ready even to endure baton charge by police and would not disperse at any cost. They also said all they would not work in medical wards from today. The medical and non-medical staff of PIMS, Poly Clinic and NIRM has been observing a strike against the non-implementation of the Basic Pay Scale (BPS) system for the last couple of weeks. Member Joint Action Committee of medical employees Raja Ilyas said as authorities concerned had failed to address their demands, they had now decided to close down the OPDs and to start a series massive protests.
