Zahid Hussain Bukhari, the counsel for former ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani, said that Mansoor Ijaz, despite promising twice, has ridiculed the commission by not appearing before it.
Talking to media persons outside Islamabad High Court (IHC) here on Tuesday, Zahid Hussain Bukari ruled out the possibility for the Memogate Commission to go abroad to record the statement of Mansoor Ijaz.
The court and commission do not visit the persons to record statements or hear viewpoints, but witnesses and accused have to appear before them, he said.
He asserted that said there was no justification in recording Mansoor Ijaz’s statement abroad, adding he will ask the commission to forfeit his right to testify him.
Bukhari maintained that Attorney General of Pakistan Maulvi Anwarul Haq had told that military was in contact for Ijaz’s security.
He also said that he will approach the Supreme Court if not satisfied with the commission’s orders in this regard.

  1. Bukhari's statement itself is ridiculous ! Why would anybody in his right mind want to wilfully step into the sewer that our PM and Interior Minister has been preparing on instructions from the house on the hill, to save their darling house guest being fed on government expenses (liquor included) because their own salvation lies in his acquittal and not becoming an approver. Period.

    • Dear Mr Kureshi :
We agreed any statement without concrete evidence is not acceptable. I hope, my dear, you do not mind my reminder of your own statement while commenting on another news item of this website.

  2. Mansoor Ijaz's reasons not to visit Pakistan are ridiculous. He is an outright American citizen and he says so. Pakistan government would not take an action which would have inevitably drawn attention of the United States government. Besides the jackboots were all too keen to provide him security whether the civilian government liked it or not then why he should have been worried. People have short memories. This very man, I mean Mansoor Ijaz hates the military establishment particularly the ISI.

But as the saying enemy of my enemy is my friend and the jackboots are pursuing this.

  3. Mansoor Ijaz is playing stupidisco. GHQ, ISI, Petitioners, SC, three sitting Chief Justices of High Courts & Media are all dancing to his tunes. All these dancers seem to be mentally sick and need to be sent to a lunatic asylum.

  4. Just received news that Mansoor has been provided yet another opportunity to appear on February 9. He had already failed to appear on three different dates of hearings. This seems to be like giving him undue benefit. It may be noted he continues to say he will not come to Pakistan.
