Unidentified armed men robbed a Sambrial-based family returning from the United States, while a motorcyclist died in a road accident in Daska city on Sunday. According to details, Masud Ghuman and his family were returning from the US, but were intercepted by a band of robbers near their house in Sambrial. The robbers looted gold jewellery worth millions of rupees, $28,000 in cash, electronic devices, American passports and other documents at gun point and escaped. Police said it was investigating the case, but confirmed no arrests made so far.
Elsewhere in Daska city, a motorcyclist died after being hit by an over speeding car at the congested Jinnah Chowk. Police said Abdul Sattar, 30, was crushed under the vehicle and died immediately, while the car’s driver fled from the scene. Police have registered a case against the fleeing driver. In Sialkot city, local people caught a man stealing streetlights near the Shah Moongawali graveyard in Muhallah Bijli Ghar. The crowd thrashed the alleged thief, Asad, before handing him over to police, which registered a case against him and put him behind the bars.
