A rally was staged by lawyers of the Bahawalnagar district on Sunday against the deteriorating law and order and increasing incidents of crime in the district. The rally started from the Bahawalnagar District Bar and ended at Tehsil Bazaar. When the protesters reached the office of the district police officer, they engaged in sloganeering against the City police station house officer (City) and the DPO. The lawyers refused the offer of dialogue by the DPO and staged a sit-in to demand an end to criminal activities in the city.
There are two police stations in Bahawalnagar, but after crime rate has gone up, instead of dropping, ever since a new police station was established. Almost eight additional & sessions judges, senior civil judges and civil judges fell prey to robbers at Pattan Bridge on Wednesday night when they were on their way back from Khanewal after condoling the death of the brother-in-law of District and Sessions Judge Safdar Saleem shahid.
