The upper parts of the country are in the grip of an intense cold wave, as a new spell of rain with snowfall is to start today (Sunday) in mountainous areas, while rain is also expected in the
federal capital.
According to Pakistan Meteorology Department (PMD), a fresh western disturbance is prevailing over Balochistan and is likely to affect upper parts of country on Sunday and Monday. “Widespread rain with snowfall over the hills is expected in Balochistan (Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Sibbi, Khuzdar and Makran divisions), with scattered rain with snowfall over the hills in expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir,” a PMD
official said. Dense fog engulfs the plain areas of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa due to which routine life has been badly affected.
Minimum temperature recorded in different cities was: -15C in Kalam, -11C in Parachinar, Skardu and Astore, -7C in Quetta, -6C in Gilgit, -4C in Murree and -1C in Islamabad.
