‘Learn from the poetry of Bhittai’

The younger generation and students of literature and political science should to go through the teachings of great Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai to understand and absolve the hardships of the present times.
This was emphasised by Arts Council of Pakistan’s Folk and Heritage Committee Chairman Dr Ayub Shaikh on Friday.
He was speaking at the preparatory committee’s meeting for the International Shah Latif Conference to be held on January 22.
Renowned intellectuals from Canada, the US, India and across the country are expected to participate in the conference that would be organised in three languages. Sindh Culture Minister Sassui Palijo, KU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui and Mazhar Siddiqui would preside over different sessions.
This moot is being jointly organised by the Sindh Culture Department, Karachi University (KU)’s Shah Latif Chair and the Arts Council of Pakistan.
The conference will start on Sunday (tomorrow) at 10:30 am with the Urdu session, followed by Sindhi and English sessions at 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm, respectively, with the participants discussing the Sufi poets Shah’s message, including its role in present times, resistance, love, humanism, tolerance and brotherhood.
