The bitter memories of the lashing of a young girl by the Taliban in Swat retuned to haunt the country as another case of a young couple being lashed came to the fore in the Paharpur area of Dera Ismail Khan.
According to information gathered by INP on Friday, the incident occurred three days ago in the Kacha Hazara North area of Paharpur, where a local panchayat headed by former union council nazim Makhdoom Aun Shah ordered the lashing of a young couple for getting married by their own choice.
The couple was first tied up with ropes and then ‘punished’ with 60 lashes each in the presence of a large crowd, who played the role of silent spectators. Iqbal, the brother of the accused Zafar, could not control himself and tried to intervene but he too was thrashed by the panchayat men and his teeth and nose were broken in the process. Seeing the fate of Iqbal, no one in the crowd dared to intervene despite the painful cries of the couple for help. The condition of the couple deteriorated after the brutal lashing and both were moved to an unknown location by the panchayat men. The so-called panchayat had accused the girl of eloping with Zafar and getting married despite the ‘fact’ that she had been ‘married’ to another man as a child. The panchayat tried to hush up the matter but eventually it became public after three days. Police have so far not acted against the culprits.

This is the example of cruel,harsh and stern society…..Panchaiyat Decision degraded our society…where is Law,Human Rights Societies,Constitution of pakistan…….who is responsible of this situation…..Poor innocent couple……no never..i hate such society……….May Allah bless our generation with true guidance of Islam and keep us away from brutal and tyrant actions of Panchayiat…….Ya Allah Save us………
