In the present scenario, early general elections are not expected but the possibility of mid-term elections could not be ruled out, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said on Friday. He was talking to journalists after condoling Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) chief Pir Pagara’s death at Pir Jo Goth. Shujaat said that whenever the next general elections were held, the PML-Q would enter into seat adjustment with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
He said that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MNAs, who avoided accompanying the PM to the Supreme Court, attended the president’s dinner. The PML-Q president said that his party did not fear the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s (PTI) increasing popularity, as the PML-Q was a stable party and the masses would vote for it. He said that it was a good sign that new people were joining politics but rejected reports that the PML-Q was holding secret talks with the PTI. Shujaat said that PML-N President Nawaz Sharif was never been sincere in uniting all Muslim League factions. To a question about President Asif Ali Zardari’s Swiss accounts, he said that the matter was sub judice and he would not comment on it.
The PML-Q president said that former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf was not coming back. “We hope that he will not be arrested on his return,” he said.
