Expressing concern over the suspension of senior lawyer and PPP leader Dr Babar Awan’s licence to practice law in the Supreme Court, Supreme Court Bar Association’s (SCBA) former president Ali Ahmad Kurd on Tuesday said the judiciary could not earn respect by issuing contempt notices and imitating contempt of court proceedings.
Talking to reporters at the Supreme Court building, he regretted the apex court’s decision of suspending the law practicing licence of Babar Awan.
He said it was a wrong way adopted by the judiciary to serve contempt of court notices for getting respect. Kurd said had he been scared of contempt of court proceedings, he would not have made speeches against the judges during lawyers’ movement for restoration and independence of judiciary.
He said the court should have shown restraint and the matter of Babar Awan could be referred to the Pakistan Bar Council.

  1. LOL @ this guy! He claimed to be a “champion” of struggling for a free & independent judiciary and made tall, exaggerated claims during the movement…but after the restoration of the SC judges took a dubiously shocking 180 degrees turn, or changed “colors” – due to obvious reasons! No shortage of topi drama antics (for vested interests) and hypocrites in our country sadly.

    • The people know who the real hypocrites r, its the drawing room fascists who only know to troll on web.
Its always jials from this part who had laid down lives for high humanvalues. No one had enough courage to stand up for aasia bibi except salman taseer & shahbaz bhatti, even for judiciary its jials from PPP who sacrificed their lives.

      • Spot on…the “drawing room” fascists, with an additional “quality” of trolling, are the real hypocrites, exactly like yourself – as you have just exhibited here! No dearth of confused idiots too!

  2. I would like to ask hamid kurd that did he asked pakistan bar council to take notice of the disrepect shown by babar awan to the supreme court and if he did how did the pakistan bar council reacted.

  3. * Alhamdulilah * ALI Ahmad Kurd , going to Next Counsel for ALI Zerdary , in Z A Bhutto case . Biased & Partial Chodhry Iftekhar cannot run ………….

  4. If u speak against generals, you r a traitor, against judges, contemp of court, against mullah, blasphemy, right of freedom when it comes to defame parliament

    • and the freakin’ trolling and BS continues by this “jial”, as he claimed here previously! Dude this is a freakin’ kleptocracy or a topi drama banana republic with the generals carrying the same responsibility for the humongous (post-9/11) mess, the disastrous and immoral NRO being an example! So look at the unprecedented (terrible) condition of the entire country before dishing out the usual nonsense here!

  5. When they abused Justice Doger on the streets then it was obvious that there are no more moralities left in this “contempt of court” law. The only thing which present SC has is some stupid arrogance & dictatorial style of judges. Kurd is right they can’t earn respect with their threatening contempt of court calls. They will see & listen an adverse affect soon on all these rubbish decisions in the streets of Pakistan

  6. He took money from the government..Rs 500 million deposited in Credit Suisse in Geneva Branch

    Kaleem Saleem
    Quetta

  7. for a poor lawyer who use to ride local bus to commute to courts 500 million is lot of money when it comes in old age :)) .. that tells a lot .i.e.. 99% people in Pakistan can sell . just you have to pay right price :))

  8. "" bacho us ke shar se jis per tum ne koi ehsan kia ho '' Saying of Hazrat Ali quite fit on Iftekhar M. Choudhry It is message for Kurd and Ehtezaz Ahsen.

  9. CJ was restored with the help of Kiani…now he is paying back Kayani in stabbing the elected government…!

  10. Kurd has his 15 minutes of fame months ago. Time to practice law finally and forget the media spot light.

As i commented with reference to an article on Ms. Asma Jehangir, be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.

  11. Supreme Court must not have suspended Babar Awan's licence. It should not be vindictive. If Chaudhry encouraged everybody to talk against the then Chief Justice Mr Dogar, then he should have the heart to bear some criticism. Chaudhry should ponder as to why almost all the shining stars of his restoration movement are totally dissatisfied with his dismal performance. His behaviour proves there was never any movement for the restoration of judiciary, it was only a movement of restoration of Chaudhry and his crony Judges. The people of Pakistan remain without justice. Transparency International has just reported that the second most corrupt institution in Pakistan is Judiciary. Well done Judges!!!
