The National Assembly was informed on Tuesday that the government will start issuing machine readable passport to its citizens for ten years to reduce the difficulties of the Pakistanis living abroad.
Responding to a call attention notice, Parliamentary Secretary for Interior Rai Mujtaba Kharral said the option of five years passport will also be kept functional to facilitate those citizens who make short visits or business tours to other countries.
The Parliamentary Secretary said the children will be issued passport for five years because their biological features change with the passage of time.
Rai Mujtaba Kharral said the PC-I of the project will be prepared and new software will also be introduced for this purpose.
The call attention notice was moved by Ms. Yasmeen Rehman, Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur, Syed Amir Ali Shah, Abdul Ghafoor Chaudhary and Dr. Talat Mahesar.
