Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan has said the government is using every tactic to hide the theft of corrupt people. Talking to reporters on Monday, the PTI chief said, “The government is using all means to conceal its corruption,” he said, adding that the government “should have resigned” after the Supreme Court (SC) declared the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) illegal. Khan said only the constitution was supreme and not parliament. “If parliament starts providing justice, then the courts should be shut down… Parliament has its own responsibilities, the courts have their own,” he said.
Reiterating his party’s support for the judiciary, he said the PTI was standing with the chief justice and the Supreme Court. He said the prime minister was supporting an individual to hide his theft, adding that he should instead support the judiciary in the best interest of the country. To a query, he said the N-league should display its seriousness by resigning from the assemblies and paving the way for early election. He said he did not know what the SC order would be but he was sure the people were standing by it.
He said the masses had restored the judiciary but the prime minister had given statements that he was answerable to parliament not any individual. Khan said the government was trying to destroy democracy instead of resolving problems facing the people.
To another query regarding the PTI’s possible alliance with former president Pervez Musharraf, he said he was not going to make an alliance with Musharraf. “We are not ready for any alliances,” he said.
To another question, he said the people of Pakistan had dismissed martial law in the country.
The PTI chairman said the only way to bring the country out of crises was by holding early elections.
