The residents living close to CNG stations face severe shortage of gas, many of them unable to cook meals in the mornings and evenings, when these outlets are opened after a three-day gas load-shedding in the federal capital. “As soon as the CNG outlets start providing gas to motorists on Saturday evening, the domestic consumers do not get sufficient gas,” complained Irum Abbass. According to a survey, the residents, especially those in I-10, I-9 and G-7 sectors have to face gas shortage.
Ehsanul Haq, who works in an educational institution, said the problem of low gas pressure starts from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, making it difficult for the working professionals and students to reach their offices and schools in time. The residents are unable to cook meals while bread-makers use wood in the place of Sui gas to run their businesses. Some residents of the area said they face low gas pressure even during the three-day gas load-shedding. They pointed out that in the past that gas pressure remained normal when these CNG stations were shut down owing to the load-shedding.
He said that the matter of low pressure has been brought to the knowledge of the officials concerned but the matter is still unresolved. The residents stated that although the gas supplying company has claimed to inject additional gas in the system, but the problems has so far not been resolved. They demanded the authorities concerned to take notice of the situation and take effective measures for the smooth supply of gas with proper pressure.
