An accountability court on Saturday released former establishment secretary Ismail Qureshi who was held by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday night.
The court said why he was arrested when he was cooperating with the NAB. The court released him and remarked that he must fully cooperate in NAB investigation. The court presented him before Judge Tariq Abbasi. The court said if proof was received and Qureshi found guilty, then he would surely be arrested.
Qureshi, who had appointed a matriculate Adnan Khuaja as OGDCL managing director, told the court that he made appointment on prime minister’s directives.
Earlier, former establishment secretary revealed on Saturday that Adnan Khwaja’s appointment was ordered by Nargis Sethi orally and asked to approve later on.
Ismail Qureshi told a private news channel that Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani actually ordered to appoint Khwaja as OGDCL chief while his secretary Nargis Sethi conveyed prime minister’s directives to him.
Qureshi said he told the prime minster about criminal background of Adnan Khwaja, after that his appointment was cancelled.
