Lahore – Citizens face problems in commuting owing to missing street lights as fog continues to engulf the provincial metropolis. Missing street lights are becoming problematic while many street lamps remain non-functional on main roads like Jail Road, Ferozpur Road, all underpass junctions and different areas of Johar Town.
According to the Rescue 1122 figures, more than 40 accidents occur every year in fog season in Lahore. Although major accidents owing to fog occur on highways, the city has seen an increase in the number of fog related accidents, and also owing to hiking number of vehicles on the street.
The street lights in Johar Town are badly managed and especially commuters traveling in and out of Johar Town face are fog blinded as Johar Town is an open area and is engulfed in intense fog after dusk. Talking to Pakistan Today the District Coordination Officer Lahore Ahad Cheema said that according to the energy conservation drive only one third of streetlights are allowed to function from the federal government.
