Foggy conditions to continue in Punjab

LAHORE – Cold and dry weather along with fog is expected to continue in most areas of Punjab, the Met Office said on Friday. Dense and moderate fog is expected to continue from early night to mid-day in most areas of Punjab. According to motorway and Allama Iqbal International Airport officials, air and road traffic was not disturbed due to the weather. Dense fog was witnessed in plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper areas of Sindh while lowest temperature in Lahore was recorded at 2 degrees Celsius. People suffering from electricity and gas load shedding criticised the authorities for unavailability of basic necessities and said that extreme cold weather had added to their miseries. Met Office officials said that Motorway M1 (Peshawar to Islamabad), M2 (Islamabad to Lahore) and M3 (Pindi Bhattian to Faisalabad) and the National Highway’s N5 route would witness moderate and dense fog with intervals.
Snowfall in some areas of Gilgit-Baltistan was also recorded on Friday. The lowest temperature recorded on Friday in Hunza and Kalaam was -10 degrees Celsius and -9 in Skardu, Kalat, Parachinar and Gopus.
Islamabad’s lowest temperature reached freezing point while temperatures recorded in other cities included Karachi 6, Quetta -6, Muzzaffarabad 2, Multan 3, Murree -2, Peshawar 0, and Gilgit -5 degrees Celsius. The Met Office said that there is a chance of rain and snowfall in northern areas of the country for today (Saturday).
