Former defence secretary Naeem Khalid Lodhi said on Friday that govt sacked him for not signing a government affidavit.
He said, “I was asked to sign an affidavit on behalf of government which I refused to sign that’s why, I was sacked. How I could sign an affidavit which was not mine”, Lodhi explained.
“I was dismissed without calling any explanation or serving show cause notice”, he said.
Naeem Lodhi further said that he was sacked without being given any reason by Prime Minister Gilani and there was no show-cause notice issued nor was there any inquiry. He said further that he only replied to the questions asked by the Supreme Court.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani sacked the defence secretary, terming him responsible for gross misconduct. He took the action after the ISPR released a press note in which it stated that the country could face grave consequences in result of the premier’s statement regarding unconstitutional moves by the army chief and ISI chief.
The terms and condition's (T&C) of employment has an appeal process as laid out in the employment law in west. A person can go to an employment tribunal within 6 months claiming compensation on the grounds of unfair dismissal from service and tarnishing reputation.
In Pakistan this decision can be challenged in a court of law and the government shall have to furnish the grounds for dismissal and a justification.
The classic DMG officers have been tamed in to pleasing the landlords-agriculturists turned politicians and play the tune that their masters wish them to play.
