‘Serene Islamabad result of workers’ efforts’

Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Engineer Farkhand Iqbal on Tuesday said the Environment Wing of the civic body was the backbone of the organisation and an integral part of all the development projects executed from time to time.
He stated this while addressing a reception organised in honour of former CDA chief and now CADD Secretary Imtiaz Inayat Elahi at the Fatima Jinnah (F-9) Park.
Farkhand said the serene environment of the federal capital was a result of dedicated and concentrated efforts of the Environment Wing’s workers.
He said he had directed the wing to increase the target for tree plantation and improve the landscaping in different areas of the city, adding that the CDA would focus on planting indigenous species of the flowers and plants to further increase the green cover in the city.
Farkhand recalled that the CDA was facing a financial crisis and having liabilities on account of electricity bills and development projects, but promised to the improve the financial health of the authority with the cooperation of the workers. He assured that all the problems of the workers, including the allotment of plots to the eligible and deserving ones, would be resolved on a priority basis.
Speaking on the occasion, Elahi said he would continue his efforts for the welfare of the workers.
SECOND DAY OF AUCTION: On the second day of auctioning the residential and commercial plots, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) auctioned five commercial plots, fetching more than Rs 910 million in the bidding on Tuesday.
On the first day of the grand auction, CDA offered seven residential plots for bidding.
The two-day auction announced by the Capital Development Authority was meant for residential as well as commercial plots, offered for bidding in the F-11, I-8 and D-12.
