To create awareness for peace and justice in the masses and ensure harmony among the educational institutions, the National Peace and Justice Council (NPJC) on Sunday held a conference at a local hotel. People from different walks of life included civil society members, lawyers, religious activists and students attended the conference. The speakers said the country was confronted by the menace of terrorism and it was the ultimate aim of NPJC to unite the nation on the current critical juncture so that they could fight in unison against the threat. They eulogised the role of the people of Chitral in the maintenance of peace and harmony in the district during the past four years, while the other parts of the region were hit by lawlessness. They asked the countrymen o unite under the banner of NPJC, which was essentially non-political in nature. The participants said mosques, churches, temples and academic institutions could play a key role in the maintenance of peace and justice and people should showcase tolerance, harmony and love for other religious members to promote interfaith harmony in the country as well as to promote national integrity countering religious, sectarian and provincial harmony.
