After repairing the damaged pipeline, the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) restored the gas supply to Sindh and Balochistan on Thursday evening. An 18-inch diameter main transmission gas pipeline was blown up on Wednesday near the Khudadad Jhakarani village in Jafarabad district by unidentified miscreants. Working under the special directives of the federal Petroleum and Natural Resources minister to expeditiously complete repair works, the SSGC had deployed all resources and technical staff immediately and replaced the 50-foot long damaged portion of pipeline, working restlessly around the clock.
After completing the welding job and ensuring necessary technical checkups, 114 million cubic feet gas was injected in the system at around 5:00 pm with full gas pressure expected to be restored at about 11:00 pm. After building the desired pressure in its distribution system, the SSGC management decided to restore gas supply to CNG stations in its franchise area at 10:00 pm, 10 hours before the schedule announced earlier.
