Public gatherings and rallies banned in Karachi’s red zones

In view of the security threats and uncertain law and order situation, public gatherings and rallies have been banned in red zones of the Karachi.
The decision was taken in a high-level meeting held in central police office and chaired by police Chief Akhter Gorchani.
Akhtar Gorchani said that the meeting was organized after city government and public concerns over protest staged in front of Governor House a couple of days earlier.
The red zones included Supreme Court, Sindh High Court, Governor House, Chief Minister House, Sindh Assembly building, Sindh Secretariat, Central Police Office, Rangers Headquarters, office of secret agencies, houses of high profile people, consulates, five star hotels, I.I. Chundrigar Road, Clifton, Defence and various areas of Sadar town.
The police chief said that strict action would be taken against those individuals, political and religious parties who would violate the ban.
