Immediate larviciding at district levels ordered

Health Secretary Jehanzeb Khan has directed that two rounds of larvae surveillance and larviciding at district levels should be completed before February 10 for effective control of dengue, while a door-to-door campaign, through lady health workers to promote awareness among the masses, especially women, regarding dengue would also be conducted.
He was presiding over a high-level meeting regarding dengue control on Monday.
Health Special Secretary Dawood Khan Bareach, Lahore District Coordination Officer (DCO) Ahad Khan Cheema, Punjab Health Director General Dr Aslam Chaudhry, Dengue Expert Advisory Group Chairperson Faisal Masood, Technical Additional Secretary Dr Anwar Janjua, Nishtar Medical College Principal Prof Inam, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi Public Health deans of institutes, and senior officers of other districts attended the meeting. The meeting decided that the Health Department would impart necessary training to doctors and health experts of Azad Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtukhwa in dengue surveillance, dengue response and patient management, so that treatment to dengue patients could be provided at a local level too. Lahore DCO Cheema gave a briefing regarding preventive measures against dengue.
